MISSOURI CITY, TX — The Edison Arts Foundation is proud to announce its 6th annual “Tutus and Tuxes” Fundraising Gala, taking place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.. Held at the Edison Cultural Arts Center in Missouri City, this year’s theme, “Super Heroes for the Arts,” celebrates “The Power of the Arts” and its transformative impact on the community.

The gala serves as a premier event to honor Houston’s most prestigious artists and arts advocates. It also highlights the Foundation’s impactful programs and its bold future, including the ongoing development of the new Edison Cultural Arts Center. This unique community hub is designed as a mixed-use development that will integrate residential, retail, and entertainment spaces with a 400-seat performing arts center at its core.

This year’s honorees include legendary jazz saxophone artist Ronnie Laws; actress, director, producer, and star of “A Different World” Charnele Brown; Alvin Ailey dancer and arts educator Isabel Wallace-Green, and Grammy® nominated gospel artist Gene Moore.

“Our mission is to produce and develop cultural and performing arts programs for children, adults, and families throughout the community,” said Charity Carter, Executive Director of the Edison Arts Foundation. “The gala is a vital part of our effort to strengthen families, bridge the community, and develop the arts in the Fort Bend and Greater Houston areas”.

Proceeds from the event will support several key initiatives:

  • Construction & Development: Funding for the new Edison Cultural Arts Center.
  • Educational Scholarships: Providing high-quality afterschool and community arts programs for students and deserving seniors.
  • Youth Outreach: Delivering performing arts programs to foster care children and youth from low-to-moderate-income backgrounds.
  • Career Cultivation: Preparing young creatives for professional career paths in the arts.

Led by 2026 Gala Chair Kethia Webber, the evening will feature recognition of this year’s honorees and showcase the Foundation’s diverse programming, such as the Afterschool Arts Academy (AAA) and the Lauren Anderson Ballet Master Class Series.
